Yoshi Yamada, Bass:

Yoshi Yamada was born in Chiba, Japan in 1980.   Between the age of 6 and 7, he began playing the electronic organ, and at age 17, became interested in playing rock guitar.  At 19 he switched to the bass.  In 2001, Yoshi came to the U.S., and one year later entered City College of S.F., where he heard jazz music for the first time and started studying jazz with David Hardiman.  He now studies with Lenny Carlson, Rebeca  Maureon, and  David Hardman Jr.

Fascinated by Scott LaFaro of the Bill Evans Trio, in 2003, Yoshi switched from the electric bass to upright bass.  In 2004,  he met pianist Walter Pope and drummer Michael Smith, and formed the Walter Pope Piano Trio.
